Hello Venice!

I am back from Venice! And I have several posts to show you and they start with this one from our first day in this beautiful city.

We arrived to Venice late in the evening but still went out in search for a late night pizza place. And even though we didn’t find one we stumbled upon a place that is now so high on my restaurant ranking that I’m going to be dreaming about it a lot in the future. It was a local osteria (wine bar) that served the biggest plate of prosciutto and melon I have ever seen! We came back there once again later to order the same thing. And it only cost €15 for what seemed like the most generous meat platter ever. I am joking now that I will have to show the picture of that treat in London restaurants asking to give me the same amount for the same price. Because that’s how it should be done everywhere! Ok, so now that I have shared my first Venetian experience I can proceed with the full story.

We had the whole Friday free and we spent it walking around the streets, bridges and stopping for a latte macchiato and gelato from time to time. The weather was great and I had a chance to wear this Maje look that I knew would be perfect for a Venetian atmosphere – laid back and romantic.

Venice is beautiful! That’s for sure! And it’s unique! I have never been to a city that has no cars, none at all! Everything is done by water, even restaurants get all their product deliveries that way. We had our gondola experience too but I will talk about it in my next post. The least impressive part of Venice for me were the big squares as they looked like so many others around the world. Very beautiful and grand but lacking in their identity. I found the little narrow streets and bridges (apparently 420 of them) to be the soul of the place. As I am writing this now I am having Venice withdrawal symptoms and would love to already book my next visit there.
