How To Be Yeezy

written by Julia Lundin November 13, 2016

How would you describe your style? Would that be easy for you or would you struggle and say that you are a bit of everything? I have never been a big fan of this question and, being a blogger, I’ve been asked that a few times in the past years. My answer was always that my outfits depend on my mood, season and occasion, but I essentially can (and like) wear everything and it’s somewhat of a mystery to me how I will look like tomorrow. Basically, I could never just describe it with a certainty of a couple of words. And it is ok because fashion is supposed to be fun. But, lately, I started to feel like I’ve been swaying between different styles way too much and you’d think that by the age of 31 I’d have a better idea of who I am (fashion-wise) 😀 And you know what? I think I finally have the answer to that question.

Thinking back, I always felt the most ‘me’ and the most comfortable when I felt cool. You know, a kind of messy hair don’t care, oversized everything, chunky boots and r’n’b kind of girl. I love my elegant heels to be worn with ripped jeans and my classic coats worn with sneakers. I love adding an edge to everything that looks too sweet and girly and that’s when I feel the most confident. So if I had to describe it in fewer words, it would be casual chic and a sporty luxe. It took me a while to remember what I always used to like and to connect with my ‘fashion roots’, but once I did I felt so much better and more confident in what I’m doing these days.

And so, obviously, I wanted to revamp my closet a bit and went on a hunt for some perfect ‘cool girls’ bits and pieces. And it all starts with footwear of course. Ever since I saw the military Yeezy boots a couple of seasons ago they remained on my wishlist. I loved the edginess they brought to almost any outfit and after eyeing them for a while I finally got them from LUISAVIAROMA website. Like I said in my previous post, sometimes it’s hard to remain uninfluenced by the trendy things that are popping up on your social media. Sometimes a certain ‘IT’ thing will be pushed into your sight so many times that your brain gets almost zombified into liking the item (certain furry slippers anyone?). I am so glad that when the opportunity presented itself I listened to my gut and purchased something that is more me and less main stream.

Now to complete the new Yeezy inspired look I also needed to stock up on cool sweatshirts and hoodies. Yesterday I made a trip to a shopping centre and went straight into the men’s department and picked a few perfect basic tops, all in Large or Extra Large sizes to give some real oversized feeling to my outfits. I’m telling you from the experience – men’s clothes in big sizes is the way to go if you are into the whole sporty luxe trend.

Now I seriously feel excited to keep staying true to my new rediscovered self, messy hair and all!

Super cool outfit, you totally nailed it Julia! I don’t like to describe myself, my work or my style in onely one word, I find my personality, work and style much more complex and a fine mix of everything, so I totally relate to you!
Have a great Sunday gorgeous!
