Next stop on our trip was a wonderful small town called, Bisbee, located in the Mule Mountains of southeast Arizona. It’s right near the Mexican border and is famous for its copper-mining history. With the population of just 5,000 people, it was so amazing to become part of their tight and friendly community for two nights.

Stepping into Bisbee was like stepping into a movie set. It’s a very cool and unique place that I, personally, can’t compare to anything else. I could so easily see it having its own TV series, in the style of let’s say, Gilmore Girls, where everyone knows each other and loves their hometown and has a favourite restaurant and saloon to hang out in. We experienced it a little bit while having an evening drink in the smallest bar in Arizona (Room 4). Everyone who came in knew everyone there and seemed to be picking up their conversations from earlier before. What an amazing sense of community!

THINGS TO DO IN BISBEE

  • go on an evening ghost tour around town which is a fun way to walk this unique place and hear some spooky stories about few of the hotels, rooms and streets.
  • have meals in some great places, including Ana’s Seasonal Kitchen, Bisbee’s Table, Contessa’s Cantina and Thuy’s Noodle Shop.
  • visit Lowell street which is so often used in the movies. You will want to take lots of pictures there!
  • go on a mines tour
  • stay in the Letson Loft Hotel, in the heart of Bisbee main street

Restaurants in Bisbee are on the highest level. Contessa’s Cantina will offer you a traditional Mexican cuisine while Ana’s Seasonal Kitchen is THE place to have breakfast in. Whether it’s Asian noodles or a heartwarming Italian meal, Bisbee has it all covered.
