Home Lifestyle Christmas with Avenue 32

Christmas with Avenue 32

written by Julia Lundin December 23, 2014

Hey everyone! This time tomorrow I will be very busy preparing for the Swedish Christmas Day, baking, cooking, dressing up and having lots of fun. And as the holidays are so near I teamed up up with Avenue 32 – women’s luxury designer fashion retailer to answer their 12 questions of Christmas. Hope you enjoy this little interview and some of my festive Instagram postcards.

insta 1Describe your perfect Christmas Day?

First, let me give you a little bit of a background. I have only started celebrating Christmas four years ago when I met Patrik. You see, I’m an Orthodox and our Christmas Day is on January 7th so in my family we celebrate New Year’s eve. This is when we sit down with a family for a meal and exchange gifts. So I’ll talk about that as essentially the day goes very similar to Christmas Day. The perfect day for me is when everything is following the same plan as every year of my life, always back home in Klaipeda, with my parents. We put up the Christmas tree in the morning (we do it much later than anyone else I know, so that it feels super special and festive in the evening), then we cook (some salads and sides are always the same, while the main course varies from year to year), then we dress up and sit down for a meal (which is quite late, around 9pm-10pm). After that we exchange presents that all come in an oversized Christmas stocking and I’m the one who takes one gift after another from it and hand them out. Then we all wait for the person to unpack his gift before we continue. After that we celebrate New Year at 12am and go to congratulate our friends. So this is when usually parents go to see their friends and I go to see mine. Or alternatively people come to our home instead. And then everyone parties until the morning. There is no other way I would rather spend this day and I’m never as happy as I’m then.

Insta 5What is your favourite make-up look for the festive season?

I usually go for quite a party look which I don’t do often. I wear either smokey eye make-up or a heavier eyeliner with a glittery eyeshadow to compliment the season. I sometimes apply shimmering body lotion to my shoulders (depending on the outfit of course) just to look more festive and different than usual.

Insta 2What is you’re A/W 14 clothing staple?

I love the oversized black coat, trainers and a beanie combination. Looks chic and is very comfortable for busy days in the city.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

It’s hard to separate just one as the whole day consists of my most favourite things. If I have to pick one it would be watching the same movie on TV year after year around 5pm. This Russian movie and New Year’s eve became inseparable. My parents watched it every December 31st and so do I (and so does Patrik now). It would be hard to quickly explain to you what this movie is about, it’s story takes place on New Year’s eve too and it’s just a very kind and funny film to watch. I know it by heart.

Insta 3What time of day do you open your Christmas presents?

We do it around 11pm and try to be done by midnight.

What would your dream Christmas day outfit from Avenue 32 be?

What’s the best present you have ever received?

It’s impossible to remember or point out just one as every year I get something that excites me to the moon and back. My family always knows what I’m into at that point of my life and they always either add to my dream or make it come true.

If you could give anyone any gift, what would you give and why?

Long with my wish for my family (including our pets) to always be healthy and happy, I’m going to be more specific than this. If I could give anything to anyone it would be a trip for my parents to go wherever they want in the world. They are big travellers:)

I have always wanted to be able to send my parents on a trip as well! I think it would be so nice to be able to do that, since they’ve done so for me so many times. Merry Christmas to you!
